The stars aligned for the 12-pack in this one as they outlasted the shorthanded Rockets on a crisp, breezy October afternoon. This was almost the opposite game played last week, with the Rockets ending up on the wrong side this time.
Chad, Diesel, Vince, Dan and Stefan were out. To pile on, Grobo went down early with an Achilles injury. On their opening drive, the 12-Pack used crossing routes and releases to move down the field, but The Interceptor (Richie) ended their drive with a big pick in the end zone. The Rockets offense moved at times and never had to punt, but did allow 12-pack pressure from up the middle and could not get in the end zone in the first half.
In the second half, the 12-Pack finally broke the stalemate with an out route that beat sub cornerback Jamal’s coverage and the receiver sprinted about 30 yards to the endzone. The 12-pack completed their conversion as Josh beat Bob on an out route, and the Rockets were down 7-0. The Rockets showed fight though, as they marched down the field and tied it with a nice pass to the back corner of the end zone from Rick to Jovan. With 40 seconds left, the extra point conversion failed, and time ran out on the Rockets. If a couple more plays were made throughout the game, the Rockets would be 5-0, but let’s rebound in a big way next week in a game that really matters vs. Pylons. This week’s game ball goes to Jason for defensive play calling, solid work on the D-Line and shutdown tackle work on the O-Line.
